Katherine is a violinist who started her studies at age 5 under Emin Tagiev in Queensland. Following her family’s relocation to Melbourne, she has learnt from Leonid Zeyde, Mark Mogilevski, First Violin of MSO and will be commencing her guides at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with Curt Thompson. Katherine passed her LMusA at age 13 in 2020 and made her soloist debut performing the third movement of Sibelius Violin Concerto in December 2023 with the Ambassadorial Youth Chamber Orchestra under Dr John Ferguson. She was also fortunate enough to perform the first movement of Sibelius Violin Concerto for renowned violinist, Maxim Vengerov, in his most recent masterclass in Melbourne and has worked with many other artists such as Sophie Rowell and Zoe Black.
As well as a soloist, Katherine is an avid orchestral and chamber musician; she is currently Concertmaster of the Flagship Melbourne Youth Orchestra and has performed with the MSO on a number of occasions as part of the MSO x MYO Side by Side collaboration; she is a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra, having attended both National Music Camp and their Flagship Seasons programs; and her quartet, Found Quartet, won the String Prize in Musica Viva’s Strike A Chord in 2024 playing the last movement of Grieg’s String Quartet in G minor.
Outside of music, Katherine thoroughly enjoys dancing, having started ballet around the same age as violin and is aiming to go abroad to further pursue music.
