AMS Music Centre are pleased to provide expert tuition on the piano. The piano is an acoustic, stringed musical instrument. It is played using a keyboard. Most modern pianos have a row of 88 keys (52 white keys and 36 shorter black keys).

Our piano lessons are perfect for Melbourne eastern suburbs students and we cater to all standards. Based in Mount Waverley, we offer lessons in Blackburn, Burwood, Glen Waverley, Malvern and the surrounding areas.

The piano is widely employed in classical, jazz, traditional and popular music for solo and ensemble performances, accompaniment, and for composing, songwriting and rehearsals.digital-piano-423

Modern acoustic pianos have two basic configurations, the grand piano and the upright piano, with various styles of each. There are also specialized and novelty pianos, electric pianos based on electromechanical designs, electronic pianos that synthesize piano-like tones using oscillators, and digital pianos using digital samples of acoustic piano sounds.

As with any other musical instrument, the piano may be played from written music, by ear, or through improvisation.

The piano is a crucial instrument in Western classical music, jazz, blues, rock, folk music, film and television scoring, and many other Western musical genres. A large number of composers and songwriters are proficient pianists because the piano keyboard offers an effective means of experimenting with complex melodic and harmonic interplay and trying out multiple, independent melody lines that are played at the same time. Bandleaders often learn the piano, as it is an excellent instrument upon which to learn new pieces and songs which one will be leading during a performance.
